PARM/ARM
Molspin offer two units which are complementary to the Shielded Demagnetizer family of products. These allow ARM (Anhysteretic Remanent Magnetization) and PARM (Partial Anhysteretic Remanent Magnetization) procedures to be performed.
PARM Unit
The PARM Unit (when coupled with a Molspin Demagnetizer) allows Partial Anhysteretic Remanent Magnetization procedures to be performed. The system allows the Start and Stop values of the PARM field to be set anywhere on the demagnetizing cycle. By default, the field only comes on during the reducing phase of the demagnetizing cycle. However, a switch allows the field to remain on for the whole cycle if required.
The measurement technique essentially calibrates the instrument before each reading eliminating errors due to variation in field intensity resulting from temperature variations or component ageing. The measurement is also linear by design and does not require calibration curves. Start and Stop values are controlled by multi-turn potentiometers on the front of the unit.
The PARM unit is mains powered, of rugged construction and attaches to the Demagnetizer by way of a 5 way plug. It is intended for laboratory use but its low power consumption permits use in domestic premises or hotel rooms.
PARM Specification:
Max PARM Field strength: 1 Oersted
Unit Size: 290mm x 340mm x 70mm
Unit Weight: 2kg

ARM Unit
The ARM Unit allows Anhysteretic Remanent Magnetization procedures to be performed. This is a much simpler unit. It uses the same coil as the PARM unit but does not have a connection with the demagnetizer. Unlike the PARM unit the magnetic field of the ARM unit is present all the time.
